In just nine short days Peyton turns three. It seems every year it is emotional for me to pass the milestone of another birthday. This year seems to be sending a wave a sadness over me if I think about it too much (probably because I am pregnant). But mostly because very soon she won't be my baby anymore. I know she will always be my baby girl and hold a very special space in my heart as my first but she will be the big sister from here on out.
Mike and I talk a lot about what a great sister she will be and we can't wait to see her in action with "Baby CJ" as she calls him. However, I plan to make the most of the next three months with her as our only little one.
She has changed so much in the past year that sometimes I can hardly recognize the baby she was. Her hair is long and blonde and she is growing taller by the minute. She has lots to say and tons of opinions.
She even requested this photo of her bike. She loves to have her picture taken now and tells me "Mom, check it out, take my picture please".
I guess these photos from last night are her way of showing me her serious face. Oh and please don't worry about the band aid. She bumped her head on the counter and decided she needed a Hello Kitty band aid to help the healing process. No major damage for those who were worried.
Even with all her scrapes and bruises, she is still the cutest little, sweetest little girl in the world.
She is smart and curious.
She is demanding and thoughtful.
She is tough when she needs to be and cuddly at all the right times.
So as she exits the life of a two year and only child we can only imagine the joy and smiles she will continue to bring. But there is one thing I know for sure...she will make us laugh, cry and love her a little more each day!
