It's My Party

There is something magical about a child's FIRST birthday party.  Friends and family spend time reminiscing about the pregnancy, the birth and all the changes that little one made in their first year of life.  Saturday was Peyton's day!  She was the girl of the hour and she soaked it all in.  Smiling at familiar faces and speaking her sweet baby talk to anyone who would listen.
I am not baker by any means.  However, I think I acquired a minimal flare for decorating cupcakes.  So a little food coloring and a few boxes of cupcake mix later, my little ladybug creations were complete...and tasty too.
These sweet little appetiziers were the handywork of Peyton's Grandma Lovelace.  They are almost too cute to eat.
Here she is, the birthday girl, fresh from a nap and ready to party.
Every little girl needs a red wagon and Peyton received hers courtesy of Aunt Amanda.
One of the few moments Mike and I held Peyton Saturday.  She was too busy being the object of everyone's affection to cling to Mom or Dad.
Cake eating wasn't exactly as planned....
Peyton's first attempt started with tears.  She was getting tired and even an entire cake for just her wasn't going to get rid of the grumps. So she ate for a minute and then took a nap.  Hey, it's her party and she can nap if she wants to.
After she woke she was ready to play.  She fell in love with Alexis.
They giggled and tickled and entertained us all.
The good mood lasted into gift opening.  She obliged us with some modeling of her new sun hat.
Then it was back to the cake, and as you can see it was GAME ON!!!
That delicious confection had no chance.
Ms. Debbie had to slip out mid-bite.
Then it was back to cake destroying with the help of Miss Alexis.

Happy 1st Birthday Little Ladybug.  It was a day to remember!
2 Days til your REAL Birthday!!!
